My dream is to see group meditation cafes around the city in the same way we see coffee shops. Step in, take a seat and sip on a drop of consciousness with your community.
At the moment I facilitate a biweekly meditation group. The current format is one guided meditation, one unguided meditation, and a brief discussion in between usually exploring such topics as recent trends in people's meditation or what challenges we confront as individuals and as a society to being in silence. We explore humanity and the role meditation plays in our secular and spiritual evolution.
While meditation and mindfulness language is steeped in Eastern traditions, the nature of my exploration is to attempt to find a homegrown discourse on meditation, consciousness, and healing/self realization. How do we position these ancient practices in urban living in Canada and how do we talk about them?
